Tracy Thompson passed away on November 29 at the age of 36. She overcame so many obstacles from birth and was an inspiration to all who
knew her. She was loved by her family in North Carolina and Texas, and by thousands of
Jeff Gordon fans on both Twitter and Facebook. A memorial fundraiser for The Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation was
held from December 8-12 and raised more than $1,400 for pediatric cancer research/treatment.
Tracy's mom, Libby, wrote the following note to Jeff Gordon fans.....
On behalf of my daughter, Tracy Thompson, I would like to thank all her friends on Facebook, Jeff Gordon Online, and Twitter.
She loved social networking. She would never go to bed until her birthdays were complete. All of you were so kind and
Tracy got to know a little something special about each of you. She would go from the laptop to the iPad never missing a
beat to be sure she was seeing all her friends and their posts.
At this time, I would like to thank each and everyone of you for the condolences, prayers and contributions to the
Tracy Thompson Memorial Raffle to benefit The Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation.
Tracy was my only child and we were inseparable. She was the love of my life and my world has just stopped. But
reading your comments from Facebook and Twitter (300 pages) has been overwhelming. It is truly amazing to see the
outpouring of sympathy. God Bless You.
