Why does this site exist? A simple question with a complex answer. But, I'll try and answer it in 300 words or less.
The main purpose of the site has always been, and continues to be, to give
race fans (specifically Jeff Gordon fans) the latest
and most accurate news and information pertaining to Jeff Gordon, Hendrick
Motorsports, and racing in general. Ease of use was an inportant factor in the design. I tend to think that
the emphasis should be on useful information rather than
high tech images.
There are a few other reasons for the site. Not as important as the aforementioned factor,
but things that did cross my mind. There was a time not too long ago when it was "fine" to be a Jeff Gordon fan; a time before he started winning Winston Cup titles and ten races per season.
Nowadays, it seems more a badge of courage to wear a DuPont hat to the racetrack or put a #24 sticker on your car. Jeff was recently asked about the fans that look forward to his failures and said,
I update the site in my spare time. In terms of priorites, updating the site loses out to a number a things.
But, I will keep the information on the site fresh and relatively new.
So, as you probably could have guessed by now, this Web site is for you; the fans that
stand up and cheer at race tracks across the country
when Jeff is announced during driver introductions. For the fans who continuously support the entire DuPont team regardless
of what other fans might be saying. It's also for the casual race fan or the new race fan interested in finding out a little about the NASCAR driver that people keep talking about.
Not just on the track, but off the track as well.
Whether you've been a Jeff Gordon fan since his sprint car days or since his last race, this Web site is for you. It goes back to what I wrote earlier about showcasing what is right.
That's the mission. Hopefully the site can achieve those goals.
"I try not to pay a lot of attention to it, but it is sort of interesting, I guess. Our sport is a little different from other sports. I don't know if
there are anti-Michael Jordan fans or anti-Tiger Woods fans who are against
them all of the time. I want to be here for a long time and be competitive and win championships.
That's the only way I can earn that respect, even though I know I won't ever
be able to earn some people's respect."
