Hall Of Fame Days
LOS ANGELES, CA. (January 28)- - Jeff Gordon will be inducted into the Vallejo Sports Hall of Fame on February 5. Gordon was born in Vallejo, California and lived there until he was 13. However, due to age restrictions he was unable to race sprint cars in the state. Joining Gordon among the inductees are Cleveland Indians pitcher C.C. Sabathia, Ted Gebhardt, and the 1949 Vallejo High School football team. Gordon's Super Bowl schedule will keep him from attending Vallejo's ceremony- he plans to have his mother, Carol, accept the award for him. The second annual dinner and ceremony will take place at the Foley Cultural Center.


Built To Last
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 28)- - The annual pre-season media tour paid a visit to Hendrick Motorsports on Thursday, January 27. All of the HMS drivers and crew chiefs were available to answer media inquiries. Rick Hendrick spoke at length about the tragic plane crash last October that claimed ten lives, and looked ahead to the promise of a new season. As part of the media week, each race team gives a "goody bag" to the assembled media. The HMS bag was a sight to behold: Delphi computer cables, a JG calendar, a blue Hendrick Marrow Program, a GMAC pen, Quaker State calendar, Garnier Fructis shampoo, a Lowes racing tablet, Tony the Tiger stuffed animal, Chevrolet key ring, 3 CD-ROM's (HMS 20 years, Jimmie Johnson, Quaker State), magnets, teflon protectant wipes, teflon multi use lubricant, a recipe book, gift card to Lowes, and press kits for the HMS drivers.


Star Wars In Spring
SOUTH FLORIDA. (January 8)- - Jeff Gordon, Elliott Sadler, and Dale Jarrett will celebrate the opening of Star Wars Episode III with special paint schemes in the spring. Sadler and Jarrett will have Star Wars paint schemes for the race at Phoenix International Raceway on April 23. Sadler's car will feature "The Dark Side" with the M&M's characters dressed up as Darth Vader and other members of the dark side. Jarrett's car and will feature "The Good Side" with characters like R2-D2 and Princess Leia. Gordon will drive a Pepsi/Star Wars car on May 1 at Talladega Superspeedway. The movie will debut in theaters on May 19. Gordon also drove a Star Wars themed car in a Busch series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May 1999 to promote the release of Star Wars Episode I.


West Coast Swing
LOS ANGELES, CA. (January 6)- - Jeff Gordon appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Wednesday, January 5. Gordon discussed his off-season endeavors-- a flu bug during the banquet week, attending Jimmie Johnson's wedding in St. Barts, and a snowboarding escape in Colorado. He also looked forward to February's Daytona 500 and the 2005 racing season. Gordon then exited the studio and performed a burnout in the NBC parking lot that rivaled his best effort in a stock car. Gordon also attended the premiere of the Racing Stripes movie on January 8. A portion of the movie's proceeds will benefit his charitable foundation.
