Dover Over Rome
SMYRNA, DE. (May 9)- - Jeff Gordon tested at Dover Downs International Speedway on Monday, May 8 amid 93 degree heat. Gordon drove a primer black Chevrolet with a red "24" on the door. Though he wanted to participate in the Goodyear tire test at the track, he didn't originally plan to be in Blue Hen Country on that afternoon. He had originally planned a vacation in Italy with his wife Brooke. "I haven't had the opportunity to do a tire test in a while and I feel like we've missed the boat on some of the tires Goodyear has developed recently," Gordon said. Nonetheless, he tried to get the date changed. "I called to see if I could get in touch with someone in the marketing department and I told them who I was. They put me on hold for quite a while. They thought for sure it wasn't me. I had to give them numbers, contacts, practically my whole Social Security number to make them do a background check for them to know it was me," Gordon said. Despite his efforts the testing date was not changed and Gordon rescheduled the trip to Italy for the off-season. (Delaware News)
