Test sessions are vital to a team's success. NASCAR determines the test schedule on current tracks prior to the season.
Kentucky Speedway, Virginia International, and Greenville-Pickens
Speedway have been tracks more than a few Sprint Cup teams usually
test at since they are not charged for a test session and the tracks are relatively
close to their raceshops in the Charlotte, N.C. area.
Unlike race weekends, on board computer systems are allowed during test sessions.
In addition, several of the top teams are asked by Goodyear to participate
in tire tests at various tracks. In those instances, a team is not
charged for a test session.
